Overview

Locals is a web-based social-media platform that allows users to create and search for local events. Events can include concerts, house parties, or any other event that a user may wish to advertise. Additionally, users have the ability to friend request other users. Upon the request’s acceptance, the friend will be added to the user's friends list, and the website then curates an event feed of which users can learn more about events being hosted by friends. If they choose to RSVP to an event, the user will receive a QR code which the host can verify at the entrance. This keeps the event safe, secure, and reliable.

Event creation is highly customizable. It can be a private event that appears only to a specific group of people, be viewable by everyone on the friends list, or it can be seen by anyone, regardless of their friendship status. Also, the event creator can set attendance caps on an event. Since users must RSVP to events, the website knows exactly how many attendees there are and can close down the event to further RSVPs. Although the website has many functions, in its essence Locals helps hosts by advertising and controlling event attendance and helps guests by allowing them to browse local events.
